abstract

a highly selective, rapid and economical differential pulse polarographic method has been developed for the determination of trace amounts of cadmium and lead present together in various standard alloys and biological samples after adsorption of their 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol complexes on microcrystalline naphthalene. cadmium and lead complexes are equantitatively adsorbed on microcrystalline naphthalene in the ph range of 8.2-11.0 for cadmium and 8.4-11.5 for lead. after filtration, the solid mass is shaken in 10 ml of 1m hydrochloric acid and these metals are determined simultaneously by differential pulse polarography (dpp). detection limits are: 0.07 mg/ml for cd and 0.1 mg/ml for pb (signal to noise ratio=2). while linearity is maintained in the concentration range 0.1-150 mg-ml for cd and 0.1-300 mg/ml for pb with a correlation coefficient of 0.9996 and relative standard deviations of 0.98 and 1.1%, respectively. various parameters such as the effect of ph, volume of aqueous phase and interference of a number of metal ions on the determination of cadmium and lead have been studied in detail to optimize the conditions for their simultaneous (based upon the difference in their ep values) determination in complex materials.

COLUMN PRECONCENTRATION OF URANIUM BY 1 -(2-PY RIDYLAZ0)-2-NAPHTHOL SUPPORTED ON NAPHTHALENE USING DIF'FERENTLAL PULSE POLAROGRAPHY

A solid chelating material, 1-(2-pyridy1azo)-2-naphthol (PAN) supported on naphthalene provides a rapid and highly selective means of preconcentration of uranium from aqueous solution. Uranium is quantitatively retained on this adsorbent in the pH range 9.8-10.7 with a flow rate of 1 ml min . The metal complex was desorbed with 10 ml of 2 M hydrochloric acid and uranium is determined by d...

simultaneous determination of zinc and lead in blood samples by differential pulse polarography

in present study we determine the zinc and lead levels in human blood samples by differential pulse polarography under optimum experimental conditions (ph=7.5, scan rate=5mv/s and pulse amplitude=50mv) the polarographic reduction peaks of zn and pb were examinedin the -0.72 v and-0.15 respectively. the zinc and lead content can be determined by in comparison with their standard solutions. accor...

Simultaneous Adsorptive Stripping Differential Pulse Voltammetric Measurements of Trace Lead, Cadmium and Nickel in the Presence of 2-aminobenzoic Acid

In this study, 2-aminobenzoic acid (ABA) has been used as complexing ligand for simultaneousdetermination of metal ions by adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetry (AdCSV), for the firsttime. Thus, a selective and sensitive procedure was presented for simultaneous determination oflead, cadmium and nickel using ABA and differential pulse-adsorptive cathodic strippingvolt...

Differential Pulse Polarographic Determination of Trace Antimony in Standard Biological Samples after Preconcentration Using 2-Nitroso-1-naphthol-4-sulfonic Acid

A highly selective, sensitive, rapid and economical differential pulse polarographic method has been developed for the determination of trace amounts of antimony in various standard alloys and biological samples after adsorption of its 2-nitroso-1-naphthol-4-sulfonic acid - tetradecyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride on microcrystalline naphthalene in the pH range of 7.5-11.0. After filtratio...
